U17 Match Report Roslea vs Teemore 11/09/22

Round 3 of the league saw the boys face Teemore in a top of the table clash at home.

Both teams came into this game with maximum points and was an evenly matched contest right from the off. Teemore dominated the early exchanges and got the first score of the game before the Shamrocks began to settle into the game.  Two points in quick succession from Darragh was followed up by a goal from Teemore.  A speculative shot from distance ended up in the back of the net, but Roslea did not give up.  The resulting kick out from Ruadhan found his target, the ball moved up the sideline to Caolan who fired over his first point of the day.  A spell of dominance from Roslea was to follow but we could not find a score and this was duly punished by Teemore, who scored their second point of the game in the 17th minute.  In a halfwhere conditions were very poor, Teemore dominated the middle third but neither side could break away from the other.  The last 10 minutes saw both sides wasteful without either registering a score. Half time Roslea 0:03, Teemore 1:02.

The second half started off as the first had ended, both teams sizing each other up without registering a score. Teemore got their first score of the second half on 35 minutes, and following a period where once again the weather played its part, both teams registered several wides.  As the game went on Oisin and Darragh started to get the upper hand in the middle third, winning more of the breaking ball, with Oisinand Ciaran finding their range with a point each in quick succession. The introduction of Daniel Reilly and Padraig McAloon helped inject some pace into the Shamrocks attack. As the game entered into the last 10 minutes Roslea maintained their pressure on the Teemore defence,  Caolanfiring over a free on 50 minutes.  Teemore kept pushing to find a score but the Shamrocks defence once again stood strong, Ruadhan in goals having to be called upon to prevent a certain score. As the game entered the final minutes, Teemore began pushing up but the ball was overturned by Darragh in the corner, who moved the ball quickly up the line.  Ciaran found himself being tightly marked in the corner but managed to cut inside and finish with a fine point.  Teemore had one more chance to find an equaliser but the defence held strong, final score Roslea 0:09, Teemore 1:03.
