U17 Match Report Roslea vs Derrylin 18/09/22

Round 5 of the league saw the boys away to Derrylin early on Sunday morning.

The game started with Derrylin having the major share of possession and registering the first score of the game in the 4th minute. Roslea responded soon after, two points from Darragh in quick succession on 7th and 9th minutebefore a spell in the game saw both teams hitting several wides.  Derrylin kept up the pressure on the Shamrocks defence, playing long balls into the forward line at every opportunity, and fired over their second point of the game in the 20th minute. Roslea were to have their own spell of dominance in the last 10 minutes of the half, but only scored a point for their efforts, a free kick from Rowan.  With the half entering the final stages, Derrylin piled on the pressure once again, scoring two points in injury time.  Half time score Roslea: 0:03, Derrylin 0:04.

The second half saw the introduction of Caolan and Charlie and almost straight away the two boys started to influence the game.  Caolan getting his first score of the game in the 33rdminute after some good play by Charlie to set him up.  Derrylin soon got back into the game and scored two points in quick succession, both in the 37th minute.  Playing with a slight breeze in the second half Roslea pushed up on the Derrylin defence and began to take control of the game. Three Roslea points in three minutes, two from Rowan and one from Caolan saw the Shamrocks take the lead once more.  Derrylin registered the next score of the game on 46th minute before Rowan hit back straight away. The kickout form Ruadhan found Darragh who carried the ball through the middle third before laying the ball off to Rowan, under pressure from the Derrylin defence, he managed to get a shot away for a score.Derrylin continued to keep up the pressure on the Shamrocks defence and scored a fine point in the 52nd minute, having turned over a Roslea attack. The final minutes of the game saw Roslea dominate and registered a further four points with assists from Charlie, Daniel Murphy, Conor Woods and Darragh, to secure the win. Final score Roslea 0:13, Derrylin 0:08.
