Round 4 of the league saw the Shamrocks face our neighbour, Aghadrumsee, at home under lights.
Roslea started the brighter of the two teams with an early point from Rowan, which was followed up straight after with a goal from Daniel Murphy, having ventured up the pitch from centre half back. The Magpies could not get out of their half in the early minutes of the game, Roslea pushing up and scoring further points by Matthew and Caolan. Aghadrumsee started to get into the game after this and registered their first point in the 8thminute before the lads took back control, a point from Rowan was followed up by a pointed free by Caolan. To their credit Aghadrumsee did not give up, breaking through the middle third with pace on several occasions, before being stopped by the reliable Shamrocks defence. The start of the second quarter saw both teams going all out, both registering a fewpoints each. A point from Oisin which started with a turnover in our own half by the hard working Matthew, and another notable score by Caolan which started with a turnover from our keeper Ruadhan, which echoed the spirit of the teams performance. Aghadrumsee had their chances late on in the first half but some fine defending, particularly by Tadhg, who on one occasion tracked his man the length of the pitch to deny a goal scoring opportunity. Half time score Roslea 1:13, Aghadrumsee 0:04.
The second half started with a point from the Magpies straight from the throw in before Roslea had settled into the half. This was to be their only score in the third quarter as the Shamrocks reinstated their dominance with points from Ciaran, Matthew and Oisin, before Oisin found the back of the net in the 49th minute. A turnover by Matthew in the half forward line saw him laying off the ball to Oisin, breaking through the defence, before firing a shot low into the net. A minute later Karl bagged himself a goal, once again set up by Matthew. A Connor Rooney point followed before Aghadrumsee registered a goal of their own in the 53rd minute, a shot from the left drilled into the opposite top corner. The final few minutes of the game saw Rowan register two points, with Tadhg continuing to work hard in the middle third, to overturn the ball and assist with the first, and a free kick to end the game. Final score Roslea 3:20, Aghadrumsee 1:05.
