Our league campaign got underway on Wednesday night with an away fixture to Erne Gaels.
Roslea got off to a good start with points from Rowan, Caolan and Tom before goals from Matthew and Caolan within the first 10 minutes. A further 4 points from the boys were added to the scoreboard before Caolan bagged his second goal on 14 mins and third goal on 17 mins. With Erne Gaels failing to find their rhythm in the game, the Shamrocks boys kept the scoreboard ticking over, a goal from Darragh and several points from the boys including a fine point from distance by Oisin. To their credit, Erne Gaels never gave up but our defence stood strong, half time score Roslea 5:14, Erne Gaels 0:03.
The second half started in the same manner, with the boys putting the Gaels defence on the back foot. Early points from Ciaran and Rowan set the tone for the boys to comfortably close out the game. Several more points were added to the scoreboard before Ciaran found the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining. Erne Gaels still attempted to break through our defence at every opportunity but the lads held firm, led by Daniel Murphy and Conor Woods. Final score Roslea 6:25, Erne Gaels 0:04.
